Materials: Buy, Use & Missing Purchases

Materials are the textures and finishes you apply to objects when building a room. This article explains the two material types, how purchasing and usage work, why some materials don’t appear, and what to do if a purchase or material seems to be missing.

Material types & currencies

  • Starter materials — available by default to all players. When you use up the free starter uses, you can buy additional uses with Cash.

  • Premium materials — must be unlocked before use. Unlocking premium materials costs Gold and gives a small number of free uses. After free uses are consumed, you buy extra uses with Silver.

    • In short: Gold unlocks premium materials (and grants free uses), Silver buys extra premium uses, and Cash buys extra starter uses.

How purchases and usage work

  • When you apply a material while designing, the game checks whether you have remaining uses for that material. Premium materials typically start with a few free uses after unlocking; starter materials also have a free allotment.

  • When you finish and submit a room, the game will ask you to confirm any purchases needed for materials you used but do not have remaining uses for. Review the confirmation before tapping Done so you can see any purchases that will be made.

Why a material might not appear

  • Room compatibility: Some materials are not compatible with every room type or furniture piece. If a material can’t be applied to that object, it won’t be shown as an option.

  • Seasonal or limited materials: Some premium materials are tied to specific rooms or events and won’t appear everywhere.

  • Materials for future rooms: Some materials are intended for rooms that haven’t been released yet and therefore won’t be usable until those rooms are available.

Inventory & unlocking (quick reference)

  • Unlocking premium material (Gold): grants the material plus a small number of free uses.

  • Using premium material after free uses: requires Silver to buy extra uses.

  • Starter materials: free by default; Cash buys extra uses after free uses are consumed.

  • While designing, the editor UI shows each material and the number of remaining uses.

Common Problems

If a material or purchase isn’t behaving as expected, try these steps:

  1. Check room compatibility

    • Try the same material in a different room type. If it appears there, the material simply isn’t compatible with the original room.

  2. Verify remaining uses in the editor

    • When you select a material, the editor should show how many free uses remain. If it shows zero, you’ll need to buy more uses or pick a different material.

  3. Confirm purchases at submission

    • When you submit your room, read the submission confirmation carefully. If the design uses materials you don’t own, the game will prompt you to buy the required uses before completing the submission.
