Puzzle Basics

Overview

Puzzle game in Buruburu Dobutsu is a “Match 2” style puzzle game. You can tap two or more adjacent cubes of the same color (matching cubes) to clear them. Clear a level by eliminating all the “goals” required for that level (stage). Clearing a Match-2 puzzle earns you B Points and Gems—which are essential for progressing through the game—as well as puzzle boosters, points, and tickets needed for events and leagues.

Basic play

  • Tap two or more adjacent cubes of the same color (matched cubes) to clear them.

  • When you have five or more matched cubes, you can convert them into a booster (special item).

    • The cube icons will change to the icons of the boosters they can be converted into.

    • Tap to clear the cubes and replace them with boosters.

  • Each level (stage) has a move limit; you clear the level if you clear all the goals within that limit.

“Goals” and “Moves”

To clear each level (stage), panels labeled “Goals” and “Moves” are displayed in the top-left and top-right corners of the puzzle screen, respectively.

Goals: Targets that must be cleared (such as specific-colored cubes or obstacles)

Moves: The number of moves remaining to clear the level

Clear all objectives while you still have moves remaining to clear the level (stage)!

Obstacles

Obstacles are items that get in the way and prevent you from matching or clearing cubes. The method for removing them varies depending on the type of obstacle:

  • Most obstacles are removed or destroyed when you clear a match (hit) next to them.

  • Some obstacles require multiple hits to remove.

  • There are also obstacles that can only be removed with boosters.

(For specific removal methods for each obstacle, refer to the hints displayed at the start of the level.)

Boosters (Overview)

Boosters are items that clear groups of puzzle cubes or obstacles at once. You can generate a booster by matching a certain number of cubes during a puzzle. You can also obtain boosters as rewards and use them in puzzles.

(For details on boosters, see “Boosters” article)

[Booster Types: Overview]

  • Fireworks — Clears an entire vertical or horizontal row containing fireworks

  • Water Balloon — Clears all cubes containing a water balloon and the surrounding area

  • Lollipop — Clears all cubes of a single color from the board

  • Super Lollipop — An upgraded version of the Lollipop; clears all cubes of two colors from the board

  • Booster Combos: Combining adjacent boosters triggers a combo that’s much more powerful than using them individually!
Example: Fireworks + Fireworks clears one vertical and one horizontal row

Helper Items

Helper items, like boosters, are items that give you an advantage as you progress through the puzzle. However, unlike boosters, you can activate them at any time during the puzzle. You can earn helper items as rewards, but be careful not to overuse them—they’re too convenient! It’s most effective to use them when you’re in a real pinch!

[Types of Help Items]

  • Hammer — Removes one selected cube

  • Airplane — Removes an entire selected horizontal row

  • Rocket — Removes an entire selected vertical column

  • Windmill — Shuffles the layout of the cubes on the board

Tips for Clearing Difficult Levels

  1. Check your objective! — Prioritize clearing the displayed targets

  2. Deal with obstacles early! — The more the board opens up, the more cubes appear, increasing your chances of making matches!

  3. Aim for booster combos! — Combos are far more powerful than single moves!

  4. Keep trying! — Since the puzzle layout doesn’t change, even if you fail, keep playing to find the best opening move!

If the Level Doesn’t End Correctly

  • Please check to see if you’ve cleared all the displayed targets (target items).

  • Restart the game and try again.

  • If the level doesn’t end even though you’ve met the target conditions, please take a screenshot showing the board and the targets, and contact us via in-game support. Including your Player ID and the approximate time (Japan Standard Time) will help us investigate the issue more quickly.
