How to play Spell Pals

Updated over 3 months ago

Spell Pals is a word-finding game where you are tasked with finding as many words as you can in the time given, with longer words being worth more points than their shorter counterparts. When you see a word, drag your finger (or the mouse cursor, if playing on the website) across each letter until the word you want is highlighted. Once done, remove your finger and the word will score (if it is in our dictionary) based on how many letters and points it contains. Each match against a player is a set of three games, after which the winner is the player with the highest total score.

Note that in Spell Pals, unlike in other word-finding games, you can use diagonally-adjacent letters to complete words!

Occasionally, score bonus icons will appear on the board during a game. These will increase either the total word score or the score of each letter used in the word, they can turn a loss into a win if used in game! To use them, you must create a word with the letter that contains the bonus icon, so try and make as large a word as possible to maximize your bonus score!
